Welcome to our lyszczasz family website

Our family roots

Thank you for visiting our family website. It will be under construction for awhile as the family history is gathered together so please be patient!

Our family history starts with the arrival of Franciszek (Frank) Lyszczasz to Ellis Island in the United States on May 27, 1913 from Glinik, Galicia in the south east of Poland on the ship Kronprinz Wilhelm. Frank was born in a village called Glinik Charzewski to Paul & Anna Lyszczasz on February 12, 1890. Anna's maiden name was Ruszala. Frank followed his sister Aniela (1904) and brother Michael (1912) to the Americas. He was 23 years old according to Ellis Island records. He lived with his brother Michael on Delaware Street in Elizabeth New Jersey.

Family legend has it that Magdalena was an unwilling Polish immigrant to the United States. Magdalena was born in a town called Kobylany in the south east corner of Poland, approximately 35 miles from Frank's hometown. Her parents were Albert & Julia Krol. Julia maiden name was Kuboszczyk. Living near her family farm in Lowisko, Austria, was a wealthy woman who has purchased a ticket on a passenger ship to the United States for her daughter. The daughter was unwilling to leave her native country and the mother gave her ticket to Magdalena's mother for Magdalena to use. Magdalena succumbed to pressure from her family and migrated to the USA via Ellis Island on May 9, 1913 on the ship Patricia. She was 17 years old, born July 16, 1895.
How Magdalena and Frank met is not known but lucky for us they did!
Through this website, the extended family of Magdalena & Frank will be able to share our history and keep up on what is happening in each our families.
